Tamoya
Udon and Tempura is one of Japan most popular and respected Udon
restaurant landmarks among both people from sanuki region and tourist. This
popular name has an outlet in Liang Court, serving Singaporeans (and visitors
of Singapore) delicious and chewy udon noodles.
Tamoya
Udon and Tempura was first established in 1994 by Sanuki Udon Champion Tamotsu
Kurokawa. Tamotsu Kurokawa was pursuing his career as udon specialist thus
participate in TV champion, a competition TV programme in Japan.
There
are basically 11 types of Udon to choose, ranging from dry to soup, spicy to
non-spicy. It helps to satisfy different tastebud of Udon lovers.
The
ordering process is very easy. You just have to enter the queue and tell the
staff which udon you want, and within minutes, it will be ready. With the udon
in hand, you can follow the pathway to the tempura counters. The temura cost about $0.80 to $2.20 per piece.
You
can choose which tempura you want. Fret not if you see the tempura you want do
not have any piece remaining, because you can always order it via the counter.
The staff will then specially prepare for you. The wait is merely another
5-10mins.
To
satisfy different taste preference of diners, diners can proceed to the
condiment counter to top their noodles with the available condiment of their
choice.
I
must say, the udon noodles is really super chewy and smooth. It is really
addictive munching on it. The broth of the udon is rich in taste but at the
same time light enough to keep you wanting for more. The broth is said to be
made from boiling and taking only the first rare layer of dried sardines and
dried bonito from Ibuki, Japan.
I’m not sure if
what they claim is true, but I simply love the broth and the udon. The crispy
and fragrant tempura adds variation to my delicious bowl of delights.
