Tired
of eating the usual traditional Tar Sau Pia (Green Bean Biscuit), why not try
what April’s Bakery offers – Thailand Assorted Pastries.
April’s
Bakery is a Thailand which was introduced by two beautiful thai ladyboss. There
are more than 60 branches in Thailand. They offer a wide variety of flavours
such as Taro, Black Sesame, Purple Sweet Potato, Matcha, Custard, Thai Milk
Tea, Tokyo Banana, coconut, red bean, pumpkin and Sweet Egg Floss. Tokyo Banana
is exclusive flavour to Singapore. Each delights cost $2. Keep a lookout for
their on-going promotion. There are days where they offer – Buy 5 and get 1
free.
With
so many flavours to choose from, you would be torn to decide what to try. My
favourite flavours are Taro and Black Sesame.
The taro flavour contains rich, smooth and generous serving of taro paste. It was really delicious as you can taste the yam flavour from the paste. Furthermore, it was not overly sweet. Good for those who love yam / those we do not have sweet tooth (especially the older generation).

The
black sesame flavour was also very rich in taste. The texture was similar as
the traditional biscuit, except the green bean was replaced with black sesame.
The strong and fragrant from the black sesame can be easily discover within
this piece of delight.
Purple
Sweet Potato is pretty as well as tasteful. My parents favourite as the sweet
potato filling was really rich and authentic. It tastes as though you are
eating sweet potato.
Matcha Lover might be falling in love with this flavour. The matcha taste was really rich. However, I find the matcha flavour a little too sweet for my liking though I acknowledge that the sweetness helps to cover the bitter aftertaste of matcha.
Custard
flavour has a milky and sweet taste. Love the smooth and milky taste. It is
pretty much similar with Tokyo banana, except Tokyo banana has an additional
“banana” taste. It tastes somewhat similar to the Tokyo banana cake everyone buy
back from their japan trip. You can only try this flavour in Singapore.
Thai
milk tea lover, don’t miss this piece of delight. My colleagues commented that
they feel as though they drink a glass of thai milk tea because the filling is
so rich and shiok!
The
sweet egg floss is the one that left me with very deep impression. To be
honest, when purchasing this flavour, I was expecting pork/chicken floss. My
expectation brings me disappointment. I have no idea what egg floss are. It
just tasted like very sweet filling that has the same texture and appearance as
shredded coconut.
Having
tried almost all the flavour (except coconut and red bean), the pastries indeed
add variation to my usual hong kong style pastries. It is conveniently located
in one raffles place as well as tampines. Give yourself a chance to try this
for your own.
