When mentioned Bali, it is often associated with volcanic
mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and seaside temples. This place is
probably the most famous island in Indonesia. As I’m travelling with
elderly, this trip is planned in the way to visit the iconic symbols of Bali
(mainly temples). Perhaps I will plan a next trip that focuses on water
activities, beaches and café soon…
Overview
After much research, we realized that to travel in
bali, it is essential for you to hire a local drivers due to the lack of public
transport and the complication of the road. In bali, you will realized that
there is lack of highway, thus travelling time from one place to another tend
to be long. Hence, this was probably the best way to explore a lot of key
sights of the island without being too rushed or stressed.
Day One (Read here): Having to reach bali late at night, we
plan to travel from the airport to lovina beach where the next day activities
are situated.
Denpasar Airport ® Hotel (Lovina)
Day Two (Read here): Lovina beach is where you are given the
opportunity to catch sights of dolphins and corals. We will also be travelling
to Pura Ulun Danu Beratan Temple before engaging in the fun of riding the ATV.
Lastly, we will visit Pura Tanah Lot in the evening as it is the only time the temple
is being accessible.
Dolphin Watching (Lovina) ® Pura Ulun Danu Beratan Temple ® ATV® Pura Tanah Lot
Day Three : we start our day enjoying the view of the
rice paddies while having decent food at café pomegranate before visiting another
cliffside temple (Uluwatu Temple). Explore
the gigantic Hindu sculptures at GWK to enhance knowledge of Hindu
religion. Lastly, we immerse ourselves in the breathtaking sunset view while
enjoying our dinner at the Jimbaran Bay.
Café Pomegranate ® Uluwatu Temple ® GWK® Jimbaran Bay
Day Four (Read here): Start the day early by waking up at 2am
to hike mount batur before visiting the coffee plantation for a taste of coffee
luwak. We do some last minute souvenir
shopping before visiting the famous café Angelita Patisserie. This also
signified the end of our Bali Trip.

Day THREE
As
mentioned in previous post on my bali adventure at lovina beach, Ulun ba Danu
Beratan Temple and Tanah Lot (For more information, read here), I will start
this post with my stay at Munari Resort & Spa where I have booked a 2
bedroom villa for our stay at Ubud.
Upon
arriving at the hotel, we are guided to their small compact reception to do our
check-in. We are presented with welcome drink and cold towel. The “welcome
drink” was really refreshing and addictive. It was lemon tea with fresh melon
cubes added to it.

The resting area
|
This
is our 2 bedroom villa. There is a swimming pool located directly infront of
our villa. In the first storey, it is where the bedroom for double bed was
situated. With a couch bed within the villa, one can rest and chill there to
enjoy the scenery outdoor. Moving on to the 2nd storey, two single
beds were located. It was an open concept on the 2nd storey as there
is no door; it can be directly access upon climbing the stair. But.. There are
curtain being placed at the stairs to increase privacy.

In
Munari Resort & Spa, the complimentary breakfast lack the variety. You can
only choose between two choice of food – Indonesian Breakfast (fried rice/
noodles) or Bali Banana Pancake. The Indonesia
breakfast definitely taste much nicer as the batter for the pancake was really
tasteless.

Pancake: One slice of pancake covering fresh banana topped with some honey was
being served. The batter was tasteless and the banana’s serving was really
little.
|
We
check out and went to café pomegranate to fill my tummy because I find the
breakfast not filling. Café promogranate
is a cafe restaurant located in the middle of the rice field in central
Ubud. It was started in May 2012 by Japanese brothers where the elder
brother designed the café while the younger brother is in charge of the café operation.
The building
stands in a unique condition due to the
raised altitude compared to the central Ubud and
disconnected from the busy main streets. It provides a 360°
open view.
Direction To The Cafe
1. From the Ubud Market Walk to here.
2. Go Up the Hill
3. Follow the red direction arrow and
follow the path for 10 mins.
(Do not walk the outer path as the path is meant
for private estates.)
4. Café Pomegranate is located at the
left hand side.

has similar sauce as that of the pork ribs. It was well marinated but when
compared to the pork ribs, grilled chicken tends to be on the drier side.

It
was time to move our ass for some attraction. The first attraction of the day
was Uluwatu Temple. The Uluwatu temple is a famous Balinese sea temple in
Bali. It is one of the nine directional temples of Bali meant to protect it
from evil.
To
enter the temple, all required to pay the entrance fee of IDR 20,000 and obtain
a sash. Regardless of man or female, you are required to cover your legs by
tying the sash on ur waist to cover them. If you are already wearing pants or
jeans, then tie the sash on your waist like a belt. These practices were seen as
a form of respect to their hindu god.
The
uluwatu temple was located on the highest point of their coastal line. Both
ends of the coastal gives amazing view of the scenery.

Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park is a ± 60
ha area of cultural park located in Ungasan, Badung Regency or about 10-15
minutes driving from Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport. In GWK, you can
find many mega structures for you to take photo with. During the evening, you
can even experience watching the sunset and kecak dance in the Jendela Bali
Panoramic Restaurant.
The weather was really freaking hot. So I was not in
the mood for picture at Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) and that my phone went out
of battery. We did not stay there for long as we want to experience sunset at
the jimbaran beach.

The beach, Jimbaran Bay is claimed to be one
of the best beaches in Bali. The sand is fine and white, and the calm waters
make it very suitable for swimming. From afar, you can even see airplanes
landing and departing from denpasar airport.
Many restaurants are set up along the beach for
visitors to diner in and enjoy the sunset. We visited the Jukung Bali Seafood
Restaurant as recommended by our guide. But Personally, I’m not a fan of the
seafood like squids, oyster so I prefer to order fish and chips.

We will be hiking mount batur tomorrow early morning. So
we headed back to our hotel Jungle Retreat (also known as Kupu Kupu Barong).
Due to the recent bali bomb, the hotel has tightened their security by doing
check at every vehicle entering the resort.
I shall post more photo of the resort and last day of adventure in bali where
I will hire mount batur, visit coffee plantation and Angelita Patisserie in the
next post(here).
