Craftholic is a series of characters that was started by
Japanese designer Ikuko Yamamoto in 2008. It has been known to be cuddly, cute,
simple and unique. This time, they have partner with Kki to open a pop-up café till
26 November 2016 to allow craftholic lovers to enjoy the companion of these
character while they dine in at Kki Sweets.
It was located in the School of the Arts located in
Dhoby Ghaut. I must say that the café was really small as it allows only a
small number of diners to dine in at one time. But the interior was really
pretty and Japanese style (Kki Sweets café original interior decoration). Diners are
required to queue outside the store and wait to be directed in when there is
space. Place an order at the counter before being told which table you are
allocated to.
The food variety was really limited as there are two
type of main – curry rice and sandwiches. I have two failed attempted where I visited
on Thursday night and Saturday afternoon. On these two days, mains were sold
out.
I was early on Sunday (one of the first few customers),
so the food was still available. The curry beef stew was replaced with prawn
curry during my visit. While waiting for the food, I make full use of the time
to explore and take photo of the surrounding.
There is a “photo spot” where you practically see every
diner take the “I was here” photo at this particular spot due to the pretty
backdrop and large craftholic plushie.
This is how the whole café look like.

We have order a prawn curry, Garlic Aioli Roast Chicken
Sandwich, Strawberry RAB, Mango Tango Sloth and Pandan Souffle Cheesecake.
The Pandan Souffle Cheesecake taste rather soft and
fluffy. It does not have any pandan smell nor taste. Even the cheese taste was
really minimal. But the cake texture was really good.
The prawn curry tastes like prawn curry masala. It
tastes really thick with rich flavour of tomato. It gives a sweet, spicy and
tinge of sourness. The serving of the butter rice was a little small and lack
the buttery taste. I love the sloth tortilla chip as it was really crispy and
goes well with the curry.

The garlic aioli roast chicken sandwich goes with the
crispy croissant bread beneath and the sloth shaped bread. The taste was a
little creamy and garlicky. On the first look, I thought why they served cheap
ntuc chips. Only to be surprised by the truffle taste on the chips.

I am pretty amazed by the generous serving of
ingredients within the parfait. There is a big scoop of ice cream, gondolas, cubes
of cheesecake, pocky sticks, and general serving of sauce and whipped cream. I
especially love the cheesecake cube as they are really cheesy.

This craftholic café is a pop up store so hurry to
experience it before it is gone on 13 November 2016.
