Maco Vintage was the first café near Johor City Square. It specialized in serving a wide variety of mille crepe and food. I have been visiting the café since Dec 2013. Although many cafés have been sprucing up in the same area, maco vintage still stand out in this new café town.

Maco vintage is situated in Jalan Tan Hiok Nee which is about 5 min walk from JB city square. It is beside Hiap Joo Bakery and Biscuit Factory which is famous for their banana cake.

It was the first café in jb city square area. I chanced upon this café 3 years ago when I was exploring JB by foot. During then, this café was very new and quiet.

However, during the recent visit, I realized it has been gaining popularity. The food variety also increases over time.

These are the photos 3 years ago.

In recent visits, I try and taste a couple of mille crepes and chicken pie. I must say the taste improved over the years. And variety of mille crepe also increases. I recall there are like only 5 types years ago. But now, WOW!! There are 12 types now!!

The café has undergone some revamp and it looks better now. The café was now brightly light with spacious seats.

The owner Maco is a graduate of SHATEC (Singapore Hotel and Tourism Education Centre).  He initially sold his signature mille crepe cakes online via his Facebook page – Sugar & Flour.

Maybe that’s explained why the mille crepes are soft and the cream are light. It does not give an overpowering taste, making you crave for more.

The matcha taste was really strong and delicious. It carries a light bitter taste which helps to neutralise the sweetness of the crepe. The azuki beans within helps to create texture and flavour to it.

Rose mille crepes taste like eating the vanilla mille crepe with light Bandung taste.  The bandung (rose) taste kind of overpowered the vanilla taste.

Rose Mille Crepe
Vanilla Mille Crepe is the original mille crepe flavour. It greatly show how smooth and light the crepe cakes are.

Vanilla Mille Crepe
Hokkaido Mille crepe taste similar with the vanilla mille crepe, except it has a strong milk taste.

3 in 1 Mille crepe was my favourite as we can taste 3 different flavours in one slice – Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry.

The chicken pie now tastes better. The pie was crispier. The mushroom soup now becomes tastier with strong taste. It used to be very watery but now, it is thicker.
