Pokemon café Singapore
is collaboration between Parco and Everything With Fries Bugis (EWF). It was
located at level 4 where the level where former shaw cinema in bugis junction was located. The pokemon café would only be available from
May 27 (Fri) to July 31 (Sun) at EWF Bugis. Fans Of Pokemon, Be Quick.
I wanna be the very best,
Like no one ever was.
To catch them is my real test,
To train them is my cause.
I will travel across the land,
Searching far and wide.
Each Pokemon to understand
The power that's inside
Pokemon, (gotta catch them all) its you and me
I know its my destiny
Pokemon, oh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
Pokemon, (gotta catch them all) a heart so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
(Po-ke-mon) Gotta catch 'em all
Pokemon was one of
the childhood cartoons that I watched. But as I aged, I stopped following.
Visiting the pokemon café relieve that childhood in me. On a Tuesday night, at
6pm, I queue for 1.5hrs before securing a seat.
Once you reached
Level 4, you will be notice queue circling outside EWF. Hoarding to close out
former cinema and the glass panels are decorated with pokemon. In addition, you
will see waitress wearing Pikachu ears and tail. Due to the space shortage, the
clearing of queue was really slow.
I must say, the food
variety was really limited.
Menu of
the Cafe
If you ordered the
Pikachu Smiling Rice Omelette with Magma Sauce ($25), you will be able to walk
away with a mug as shown below.
We are guided to
our seats where youw ill find pokemon printed paper table mat. Food was served
really quickly. In less than 10 mins, all of our dishes were on the table,
ready for our consumption.
We have selected
and order the food while queuing. We order the Pikachu Smiling Rice Omelette with
Magma Sauce ($25), Pokemon Café Truffle Fries ($12), Pikachu’s Thunder Shock
Parfait ($15), Pikachu Latte (Hot, $8) & Pikachu Latte (Cold, $9).
Pikachu Latte (Cold,
$9), has a very thick layers of cream on top of it so that they can paste the
edible pokemon face sticker on top of it. As such, I would advise you not to stir
in the cream as it simply doesn’t dissolve at all. All you get are chunks of
thick cream floating around. The two Pikachu ears are our traditional childhood
snack - Biscuit Piring Wafer.

The stubborn cream that was too thick to
be dissolved.

Pikachu Latte (Hot,
$8), the taste of the latte was similar. Except the face of Pikachu was
actually cocoa powder. It comes with a biscuit of Pikachu tail.

Pikachu’s Thunder Shock
Parfait ($15), it was stated that “kawaii Pikachu inside a fluffy and crackling
cotton candy belt! Sponge cake in the parfait. Fill your cheek pouch with this
parfait”. To be honest, this dish was really disappointing. The sizing was
really small. It consist of tiny little scoop of vanilla ice cream, a very
small Pikachu sponge cakes, mango syrup and a super hard cotton candy. For the
price of $15, I am getting a portion smaller than the foodcourt $4 dessert.
Maybe, it was meant as food for the camera only. But for mine, it was worst. My
Pikachu has a distorted face, so it was not even consider as a food for my
camera.

Pikachu Smiling Rice Omelette with Magma Sauce ($25)
comes with a big Pikachu face made of
saffron rice is served with egg omelette as well as Primal Groudon’s magma
sauce in a Pokeball mug. Every order of this dish comes with a free brand new
Pokeball mug that diners can take home. The taste of this dish was pretty
decent but nothing fanciful. The portion was slightly small.

Pokemon Café Truffle Fries ($12), one of EWF specialty.
It was pretty delicious with the crispy soft fries fried in truffle oil. It was
great for sharing.

Remember to snap a
picture at the photo station. They have provided the pokemon outfit at the
booth for you to wear for phototaking.
There are pokeball
creampuff for takeaway at $5.90 per piece. Diners who wish to have a “souvenir”
to bring home can bring this pokeball back.
There are exclusive
merchandise of pokemon to serve hard-die fans ranging from badge, notebook, stationary,
tote bag and t-shirt
All in all, I find
that decoration and taste of food by pokemon café was really disappointing as
compared to hello kitty café and pompompurin café. Fan of pokemon can visit to
satisfy their childhood memories and also photos of pokemon food. Those who wish to visit, be quick to do so by 31st
July 2016.
