Orange
Lantern – A small homely halal Vietnamese restaurant in Harbour front Centre.
There is a wide variety food choice available ranging from mains to desserts.
It
is my visit to a Vietnamese restaurant in Singapore thus I’m pretty excited to
try it with my colleague. During weekday, there are lunch promotion set
available – Set A or Set B. The
promotion set consist of a main, an appetizer and a drink.
If
you do not like the main provided in the promotion set, there are ala carte
dishes to choose from.
After
much struggle, I decided to go with Grilled Fish with Rice Vemicelli as I wanted
some light. I must say the grilled fish was really well-marinated. It was so
flavourful with garlic and was slightly crispy. The vermicelli was bland but
springy. It was meant to be dipped into the sweet fish sauce to give it a sweet,
soft and smooth texture. Love the combination. However, the portion was
slightly small as many of my colleagues were complaining about it not being
filling enough.
As
there are few of us, we decided to order different appetizer to try and share.
The appetizers generally taste very decent. For health conscious eater, one
might want to choose the Vietnamese rice spring roll instead as it is healthier
Benefit
of dining with more people – More things to try.
Cocktail
Coconut Desserts was served in a coconut filled with cocktail within. The coconut
juices within makes it really refreshing.
Sticky
Rice with mango was sold out. Thus we did not manage to try that. Instead, we
tried this mango sago dish where the mango was slightly sour-sweet.
Vietnamese
Cassava Cake is actually tapioca cake. The cake was pan fried and topped with
orange sweet. It was not overly sweet. It was really soft and chewy. However,
it tends to be slightly oily.
