Kho Kho Na Ra is a Korean restaurant situated in
Tanjong Pagar. It serves Korean cuisine and happens to be known for their
Korean Fried Chicken as well. It offers Combo Chicken Set ($20 during lunch,
$25 during dinner) which has 9 pieces with 3 different flavours – original,
sweet and special garlic soy sauce chicken. This allows diners to have the
opportunity to taste different flavours without bursting our pocket.
Kko Kko Na Ra has been in operation at Tanjong
Pagar since 2008. They are expanding and have opened an outlet in Bugis as
well. It can be easily located along the streets of café and bars.
With the restaurant, you will be greeted with
friendly staff and cosy seats. The entire place was very orangey due to the use
of warm incandescent lamp used. As such, please pardon the bad photo quality.
Kko Kko Na Ra has a variety of food offer by
the restaurant ranging from the Korean fried chicken to army stew to pancake.
While waiting for my friends to arrive, I started
looking around the café. It was decorated with antique clocks, chalkboard
describing the delicious food available. The food pictures really look very
tempting.
We are being served a tiny plate of side dish
to be shared by 4 of us. It was refillable upon request. We tried and find the anchovies very addictive.
So we request to refill it for 4 times, before they serve us a tray with 3
serving of the anchovies and told us that it was the last serving we can
request for. Well, the anchovies was really crispy and sweet, but it’s the first
time we faced such a situation where we are told “this is the last serving you
can request” -.-

Coming back to the main point, we order a combo
fried chicken set (Small, $25), Ma Neul Gan Jang a.k.a Garlic Soya sauced
chicken wings (8 pcs, $20), kimchi jungol a.k.a kimchi stew with Spam (Small, $25),
kimchi jun a.k.a kimchi pancake ($20) and steam egg ($12).
We ordered a Kimchi Stew with additional ramen.
The Kimchi Stew was so deliciously sour and went perfectly well with ramen. The
only downside was that it did not come with much ingredients and there was
generally just a lot of onion and leek floating around instead of kimchi. The
ramen also soak up the soup real quick. It would be tastier if more kimchi and
ingredients are being served.

The kimchi pancake was soft and sour. I find it
delicious but my friends find it too sour. We agreed that the pancake was too
soft. It should have been crispier.

Combo Fried Chicken consists of nine piece
chicken where it has the original, sweet and garlic flavour. They are really
crispy and tender. The original flavour tastes bland. But I love the sweet and
garlic chicken as they are well-marinated with the flavours.

To satisfy our craving for chicken, we ordered
another set of garlic wings.

The steam egg was another delicious dish. The
egg was really soft and fluffy.

All in all, these are what we have ordered. If
you are craving for delicious Korean fried chicken, Kko Kko Na Ra can be your
choice. But... if you are craving for army stew and Korean pancake, I belive
there are better choice out there in the market.
