[Hanoi, Vietnam] Giảng Cafe - Best Vietnamese Egg Coffee In Old Quarter

The coffee is brewed in a small cup with a filter before the addition of a well-whisked mixture of the yolk and other ingredients. The cup is placed in a bowl of hot water to keep its temperature. The recipe was developed in days where milk was scarce in Vietnam. Therefore the owner’s dad used egg yolks to replace milk.

Many travelers tend to rely on travel books to get advice on what to eat, play and stay in certain countries. For Hanoi, Egg Coffee is widely recommended in almost all the guide books as a must try food in Hanoi. More often, Giang Café was the recommended store for this delight.

Giang Café was located in the streets while old quarter. There are many cafes selling egg coffee, but we choose to stick to Giang Café and we were amazed by the experience.

Cafe Giang has been in operation for decades. The first thing they ask you will be "how many eggs do you want?” This would determine how tall the custard layer will be.

If you order a warm order, the glass sits in a cup of warm water to keep the drink heated throughout the sipping experience. Sitting at the miniature tables and chairs, we look like little giant enjoying our high tea experience.

The egg flavor is really fat, the coffee flavor are really both fragrant and bold. Giang Café was capable of mixing the coffee and egg perfectly that will decrease the feel of "egg overdozed". We love the taste and texture so much that we revisit a couple of times because it was simply too addictive. As the weather was really humid and warm during July, we opt for the cold version.

This cup is really heavenly. It is really a must try when visit.
